Built by a left-handed crocheter who got tired of translating in her head

Hi, I'm Susi — the founder of Crochets.

I'm left-handed. If you are too, you already know what that means in the crochet world: every tutorial mirrored in your head, every chart read backwards, every "insert hook into the next stitch" quietly converted before your hands can follow. One in ten crocheters works this way — and almost everything out there is made for the other nine.

When I was learning, I'd pause a video, hold my phone up to a mirror, laugh, put it down, and unravel my rows again. People told me the same thing lefties have been told forever: "just reverse it in your head." As if the hard part of learning a craft should be doing live geometry while holding yarn.

That frustration became a checklist. Left-handed videos for every single lesson — real ones, not "figure it out." Charts and written patterns that come out in your working direction. US or UK terms, centimeters or inches, chosen once and respected everywhere. Pattern math done by an actual calculator instead of hope. And a photo of the finished piece before you buy the yarn, so nobody frogs a project that was never going to work.

Along the way we read hundreds of one-star reviews of other crochet apps. The same heartbreaks kept repeating: patterns full of errors, no yarn amounts, trial traps, and lefties left out — again. Every one of those complaints shaped what Crochets does differently.
