How to crochet the Waffle Stitch — step by step
Foundation: chain a multiple of 3 + 2. Row 1: dc in the 4th chain from hook and in each chain across; turn.
Row 2: ch 2, dc in first st, *FPdc around the next 2 stitches, dc in next stitch*; repeat across, dc in the last stitch; turn.
Row 3: ch 2, dc in first st, *FPdc around the next stitch, dc in the next 2 stitches*; repeat, finishing with dc in the last stitch; turn.
Repeat rows 2–3. The alternating post stitches build the deep square 'waffle' pockets.
Instructions use US terms. Working left-handed? Do exactly the same moves as a mirror image — insert the hook from the same side of the stitch, working from left to right instead of right to left.
